Max Lager’s is 18 today!

March 5, 1998 – Max Lager’s opens our doors at 320 Peachtree Street…..Since then, we have seen so much growth and change in these 18 years.  From changing beer production laws (all for the better!), to the addition of the Georgia Aquarium (for the betterment of Atlanta GA), to the move of the Coca Cola museum, now the World of Coca-Cola (for the better!), to the opening of the Center for Civil and Human Rights and the College Football Hall of Fame – all of these fabulous jewels added for the  betterment of our wonderful city!

Our entire Max Lager’s team would like to thank YOU, and all of our many, many visitors for visiting us, enjoying our award-winning, hand-crafted beer, our wood-fired cuisine (and the fish & chips!), our fresh squeezed cocktails, and our homemade Max Tap root beer!

Cheers to you all for making us (and keeping us as) the Oldest Brewpub in Georgia!  And cheers to 18 more!  Cindy, JR, and Alan and our entire Max Lager’s team.

What a wonderful way to start our trip in Europe this summer – a visit to the Dr. Loosen winery overlooking the Mosel River just outside the beautiful town of Berkastel-Kues in southwest Germany.   While Riesling is not considered by me (and my traveling companions) to be a favored grape, we were certainly surprised with the quality and enjoyment of the many Rieslings we tasted. Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week starts May 28th and continues until June 5th.  This week-long event highlights Downtown Atlanta Restaurants. Max Lager’s is offering a special dinner menu. Join us for our $25 three-course dinner menu:

Appetizer: Chopped Salad w/ Balsamic Vinegar

Entrée Choice:

  • Wood Grilled Grouper with mango macadamia chutney & asparagus
  • Southern Fried Chicken in buttermilk batter, bacon braised collard greens, charred corn, whipped potatoes and warm pepper jelly
  • Niman Ranch Pork Chop, whipped potatoes, collard greens & jalapeno gravy

Dessert: Bourbon Glazed Peach Bread Pudding

Valentine’s Day

Chef Tim is planning a delicious three-course meal to impress your sweetie for Valentine’s day for $35 per person. He and Brewmaster JR, have carefully paired each course with either a flyte of our craft beer selections ($8) or a flyte of wine ($12). This special fixed price menu will be offered Friday through Monday nights (the 11-14th) in addition to our regular menu.

Salad:
Endive and pear salad, toasted pistachios, clementines and pear vinaigrette paired with the Trimbach Riesling or Max Gold
or
Roasted beets, granny smith apples, whipped goat cheese, micro celery and red wine vinaigrette paired with the Dr L. Riesling or Max Red

Entrée:
Lobster pot pie- Lobster, carrots and peas under puff pastry paired with the Clos Pegase Chardonnay or Old 320
or
Pimento cheese crusted filet of beef, rock shrimp and cauliflower risotto paired with the Jack London Zinfandel or Gimme Shelter Bock

Dessert:
Red velvet cupcakes with a cream cheese icing paired with the Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs Sparkling or Max IMOS

Exciting New Brews

This upcoming Wednesday (January 26th) Brewer JR will be tapping the Gimme Shelter Bock (our founding Drink Beer Do Good beer- as it continues to be). JR started brewing this German style beer back in October and it has been lagering ever since, creating a nice smooth malty beer. Pair it with our Braised Beef Short Rib with bleu cheese grits and Brussels sprouts for a perfect winter meal.

Up next: The IMOS: Imperial Mocha Oatmeal Stout.

Menu Changes for Winter

Chef Timothy has recently made some seasonal changes to our menu. The Quail and Grits appetizer is quite tasty, and both the Steak & Goat Cheese Salad and the Winter Vegetable Salad are healthy, lite, and delicious new options!

For the heartier appetite the wood-grilled meatloaf is oh so yummy. Pair this with our Joseph Drouhin Pinot Noir, the Robert Sinskey Organic Merlot or the Max Black Lager, and you’ve got an outstanding well-rounded and totally satisfying meal.
